1. Getting Your API Credentials

Go to airtable.com/create/tokens to create a personal access token. Select the scopes you need (data.records:read, data.records:write) and the bases you want to access.

2. Reading Records

Fetch records from a table using GET requests. Filter, sort, and paginate results. The API returns JSON with record IDs and field values.

python
import requests

headers = {"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"}
url = "https://api.airtable.com/v0/BASE_ID/TABLE_NAME"

response = requests.get(url, headers=headers)
records = response.json()["records"]

3. Creating and Updating Records

Use POST to create records and PATCH to update them. You can batch operations for up to 10 records per request. Handle rate limits (5 requests per second).

Wrap-up

The Airtable API is straightforward and well-documented. Use it to build custom dashboards, sync with other systems, or create applications powered by Airtable data.
